Italian tactician Luciano Spalletti is in competition with Jose Mourinho to become the next Chelsea boss.
The London club will make a new appointment in the summer after Rafael Benitez, who replaced Roberto Di Matteo earlier this season, confirmed that he will be leaving in June.
Mourinho is a leading contender to return to Stamford Bridge given that his stint at Real Madrid looks to be coming to an end.
However, reports in Italy on Friday are suggesting that Zenit St Petersburg Coach Spalletti is also an option.
Spalletti, who is on a €5m a year deal with Zenit until December 2013, was considered for the job in 2009. Chelsea, though, appointed Carlo Ancelotti instead.
Spalletti, formerly of Udinese and Roma, has been in Russia since December 2010. He’s delivered two League titles.
