Mario Balotelli celebrated his brace against Palermo and is confident Milan “will catch Napoli next week” in the race for second.
The striker, who was born in Palermo, converted a penalty and tapped in an M’Baye Niang assist to secure the 2-0 victory.
“We won, which was the important thing. It went badly in Barcelona, but we have recovered,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
Having already played for Manchester City in the Champions League, Balotelli was unable to play in the Round of 16 clash.
“How would it have been with me in Barcelona? Maybe we would’ve lost 8-0! We were just unlucky and there are many great champions in this team.”
Milan are still third in Serie A, as Napoli and Fiorentina also earned victories today.
“It doesn’t matter, we will catch Napoli next week. We must continue working as a squad. We might not play like Barcelona, but we can reach their level, as we beat them at San Siro.”
