The agent of Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso claims Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan insulted his client during last night's Champions League match at San Siro.
Gattuso was seen to raise his arms in a confrontation with Jordan during the game and then sensationally attempted to head-butt the Scot after the final whistle.
He later apologised for his actions but UEFA are expected to punish the World Cup winner with a three-match ban.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Gattuso's agent Claudio Pasqualin said: "What's evident to me is that my client was gravely provoked by Joe Jordan.
"After having continually heckled him, Jordan insulted him with a phrase of the lowest order, saying: 'F***ing Italian b***ard'.
"For someone like Rino, who has a strong sense of Italian identity, I believe that this is the most cowardly and undignified of abuse."
Asked about UEFA's plans to take action against Gattuso, Pasqualin said: "As soon as we have news from UEFA will evaluate legally the best attitude to adopt."
