Leonardo Bonucci expects his Italy side to be a threat at the Confederations Cup and the World Cup.
The Juventus stopper made the claim after last night’s 2-2 draw with Brazil, the country which will host both competitions.
“It was a great Italy,” he stated following the Geneva international friendly. “We created so many scoring opportunities.
“We’ve been doing some great work for the last two and a half years, we have a style of play and an identity.
“We can have our say at the Confederations Cup in the summer and the World Cup next year.”
The latest Azzurri squad contained eight Juventus players and five from Serie A rivals Milan.
“The Juventus block? There is a good base on which to build something important,” he added. “Look how well Emanuele Giaccherini played – he’s someone you can always rely on.
“Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio and Mario Balotelli? De Sciglio is a great talent,” he explained of the debutant. “He played a great game.
“Balotelli has important qualities and I congratulated him for his display. When he wants to make the difference then he does.”
