Mauro Icardi is wanted by Europe’s top clubs and the 20-year-old just wants to play. “I’m not sure staying at Sampdoria would be wise.”
The Argentine striker has become a sensation this season with nine goals in 23 Serie A games, but was only given the opportunity to play amid an injury crisis that ruled out every other option.
His contract expires in June 2015 and Samp are in negotiations for an extension despite interest from the likes of Inter, Juventus, Milan, Napoli and clubs in Spain and England.
“Staying for another year at Sampdoria could be convenient for me, but I’m not so sure,” he told Sport Week.
“Who can guarantee that over the summer Samp won’t sign a big star striker who would send me back to the bench?
“I never said that I wanted to go to Inter, Juventus or Milan. I am happy at Sampdoria. As for the future, we’ll see what happens.”
