Palermo have no regrets about selling Federico Balzaretti to Roma at the end of the last campaign.
The Rosanero, who face the Giallorossi in Serie A this weekend, netted €4.5m for the Italian international.
“Balzaretti is a really great guy and a serious professional,” director Giorgio Perinetti noted. “We got the most we could for him.
“There are moments when it is right to sell players and that was the time for him. There were no other options.”
The now 31-year-old only had 12 months left on his contract in Sicily when he opted to move to the Italian capital.
Had he stayed and not signed an extension then he would have been available on a free transfer in June 2013.
