Inter play against Sampdoria today and director of sport Piero Ausilio admits “there’s no point hiding the fact we want Mauro Icardi.”
The two clubs go head-to-head at 17.30 UK time (16.30 GMT) in a Serie A match rescheduled from March 17 due to flood warnings.
Icardi starts for Samp and Inter are no longer denying their attempts to sign the 20-year-old Argentine in the summer.
“Yes, we like him, there’s no point denying the fact we want Icardi,” Nerazzurri director of sport Ausilio told Sky Sport Italia before kick-off.
“Sampdoria know this, but we decided to talk about it at the end of the season, waiting to see if all the parties achieve their objectives.
“We will not be meeting with Sampdoria directors today, as straight after the game we are returning to Milan.”
Inter’s transfer strategy will depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League.
