Cagliari captain Daniele Conti says it is “shameful” that his team effectively does not have a home stadium for the rest of the season.
The club has been forced to play many games behind closed doors at the Is Arenas due to security concerns and announced this week they were walking away from the structure.
Their home fixtures are now due to be played at the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste , though the local council has again warned it’s “a race against time” to get work done on the video surveillance system before the match with Inter on April 14.
“It is truly shameful that Cagliari don’t have their own stadium,” slammed Conti. “In my home town of Nettuno they are fixing the local pitch, so we could go and play there!
“All joking aside, I hope everything can be sorted out as soon as possible. My desire would be to play here in Cagliari. Evidently that is no longer possible, people are putting a spanner in the works and the President will decide where we play.
“It’s a shame for the fans who are suffering in this situation more than anyone. Now we have to focus on football and finish this season as best we can.”
