Palermo’s Josip Ilicic has confirmed that he turned down the opportunity to join Dynamo Kiev at the start of 2013.
“I received an offer from them, but I said no because I wanted to fight and help Palermo stay in Serie A,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.
“For now I just want to end this season as well as possible and then we will see what happens.”
The Slovenian midfielder has been linked with a summer exit, especially should the Stadio Barbera outfit fall into Serie B.
“I don’t know what will occur in June,” he added. “The career of a footballer is short and moments arrive when you can change your life.
“Nevertheless, I’d like to remain in Italy.”
Ilicic, seven goals so far in the top-flight this term, has been paired with possible moves to Sampdoria and Roma.
