Milan made contact with the agent of Serie B hotshot Simone Zaza on Monday, claims the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 21-year-old is of transfer interest to a number of sides given that he is only contracted at Sampdoria until 2014.
Doria are trying to get the forward to sign a new deal at Marassi after his 18 goals so far for Ascoli following his summer loan move to the Bianconeri.
Juventus, Napoli and Inter have also been linked with the forward, but the Gazzetta says that Milan have now been in touch.
Diavolo officials have spoken with agent Christian Maifredi, although they will firstly have to make room in the squad for Zaza.
It is being claimed that Zaza’s potential switch to San Siro depends on whether Robinho and Bojan Krkic are released.
