Walter Mazzarri is more important to Napoli than Edinson Cavani, says former Azzurri goalkeeper Giuseppe Taglialatela.
The futures of the Coach and the star striker have been placed into doubt given that Mazzarri’s contract expires in June and Cavani has a €63m release clause inserted into his deal.
“If I had to choose between Cavani and Mazzarri then I’d opt for the Coach,” Taglialatela told Radio Marte.
“The tactician is far too important for this team and I’ve always said that I hope he decides to stay.”
Taglialatela added that he would struggle to see Mazzarri sitting on a different Italian bench right now.
“Only Juventus are stronger than Napoli in Italy,” the 44-year-old stated. “I don’t think any other clubs can match the ambitions of the Coach at this moment in time.”
