Mattia De Sciglio has again played down comparisons with Milan legend Paolo Maldini. “I have a long way to go.”
The young full-back, 20, has broken into the Rossoneri first team over the last two seasons and he was recently handed his first full international cap.
“I’m honoured to be compared to Maldini, but I have a long road ahead of me,” the defender told La Stampa.
“Perhaps they just say that because I also grew up in the Milan youth sector…”
De Sciglio’s side will next be in action on Sunday against Juventus, a club he admits he followed as a youngster.
“I was a Juventino at first like my dad,” he added. “But then my mother and my grandfather got me to change my mind.
“I liked Gigi Buffon, Alex Del Piero, Pavel Nedved and Lilian Thuram. But only because I was influenced by my father…”
The 20-year-old has played in 24 League games this term, as well as five in the Champions League.
