Roma are through to the Coppa Italia Final and face Pescara in Serie A on Sunday , so Aurelio Andreazzoli tries to keep focus on those games rather than his future.
The Coach was promoted from the staff to take over in February when Zdenek Zeman was sacked and has been a revelation, but it might not be enough to keep him in the position next season.
“We are very happy to have achieved our objective of reaching the Coppa Italia Final and can give the fans an unforgettable day in this city,” he said of the showdown for silverware with Lazio.
“It is our duty to do what we always said, which is play each game at our best to improve the standings. We work every day for many hours and are very concentrated on Pescara.
“They may be bottom of the table, but I fear Pescara because there is the risk attention could drift elsewhere.”
Andreazzoli had completely revamped Zeman’s system to adopt a 3-5-2, but has now returned to a four-man defence.
“We have arrived at the moment to find the right mix of all the experiments we tried out, some of which were necessary and some we wanted to test. The reasons behind a change in tactics can also be psychological as well as technical, as at times you are seeking a sense of certainty within the team.
“My future? The directors have never had to talk to me about that. There was always a clear idea on what we had to do and my role at the club, which was to get the best out of this period in terms of results and players.
“Do I expect to be kept in the job? I expect to be appreciated for the work I have done. That doesn’t necessarily mean being confirmed on the bench or not.”
Marquinho is not even in the squad for Sunday’s game, as he is suffering from a knee inflammation.
Roma squad for Pescara: Bradley, Castan, Destro, De Rossi, Dodo', Florenzi, Goicoechea, Lamela, Lobont, Lopez, Lucca, Marquinhos, Osvaldo, Perrotta, Piris, Pjanic, Romagnoli, Stekelenburg, Tachtsidis, Taddei, Torosidis, Totti
