Andrea Della Valle is adamant the project will continue building despite defeat to Roma. “All of Italy enjoys watching this Fiorentina.”
The patron was in the stands for last night’s 1-0 loss , decided in stoppages by Pablo Daniel Osvaldo after the Viola hit the woodwork twice and had a strong penalty shout.
“It’s a shame the referee didn’t see the handball, but I understand it is difficult to spot these things in a hundredth of a second,” Della Valle told Sky Sport Italia.
“In the second half we hammered Roma, but the incredible irony is we were beaten by Osvaldo, the man whose goal took us into the Champions League four years ago.
“Now the Europa League qualification is within our grasp and we’ll see what can happen in the Champions League. It’s tough to sleep after a game like that. The players were so fired up, I had to calm them down in the locker room.”
There have been suggestions players like Stevan Jovetic or even Coach Vincenzo Montella could leave over the summer if they fail to finish in the top three.
“The project is serious and will be in future too,” assured Della Valle. “Not even in our Champions League campaigns have I had so much fun, as all of Italy enjoys watching this Fiorentina.
“I am extremely proud of this project, which does not end here. We must continue the Fiorentina project and won’t give up regardless of what the next three games tell us.
“Last year I made many mistakes, but this time round I got a lot of them right with the courage to change.”
