Brazil Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has named the Confederations Cup squad to face Italy, cutting Kaka and Ronaldinho, but including Lazio’s Hernanes.
It was believed the former Milan stars would be included in the tournament, but were left out of the final 23-man cut.
Lazio midfielder Hernanes has earned a call-up after breaking into the first team recently.
The Selecao are in Group A this summer against Japan, Mexico and Italy.
“I had some difficulty as there were many other good players who might have been included, but according to certain criteria I have selected this group,” explained Scolari.
“Theoretically we have a starting line-up. But it depends on the first days of training. We will see what conditions we are presented with, as some players are competing in national tournament finals and at the Libertadores.
“We have roughly outlined the starting line-up.”
