“Catania are determined to get eighth place,” insisted Coach Rolando Maran, as it can make a big difference to their Coppa Italia.
The top eight teams go into the Coppa in November rather than August, saving themselves two rounds of the competition.
The Elefantini visit Torino this evening and are in eighth position, but only one point in front of Inter.
“We want to win in order to enter the history books of this club with a new record points tally, but we also want eighth place so we can go into the Coppa Italia later,” said Maran.
He invited his staff to sit with him in the final Press conference of the campaign.
“I wanted to show how grateful I am for their work this season, which allowed the team to beat the previous points record.
“Next year we start from scratch, yet nobody can cancel out what we have achieved.”
Nicola Legrottaglie, Pablo Alvarez, Alessandro Potenza and Giovanni Marchese are unavailable.
