Former Milan full-back Massimo Oddo understands the hesitation from the club’s fans over the prospect of Clarence Seedorf returning as Coach.
Speculation is that Massimiliano Allegri will depart for Roma this summer and former midfielder at the club Seedorf will come in as his replacement for a first managerial position in his career.
In considering the reaction to the rumours, which has included the Curva Sud releasing a statement against the proposal, Seedorf’s former Rossonero teammate has assessed the situation.
“Maybe there are doubts because he has never trained…” Oddo told Calciomercato.com this week.
“The first to have coached Milan without any experience on the bench was Leonardo, because with Capello, he came to the team after practical experience with the youth team.
“And the results under Leonardo were not exciting. Then I think that the fans are entitled to say no to Seedorf.
“He has personality and charisma and has been great as a player, but he has no experience on the bench.”
The 36-year-old also considered Allegri’s possible departure.
“It is difficult to comment on the situation. Inside a club there are dynamics that no-one knows of except those who live and work there.
“From the outside you can tell that Allegri has done well in spite of the difficulties arising from a great change adopted last summer by Milan.
“A year ago the club changed its policy, but even so Allegri took the team to third place, and with a better start to the season, they could have been fighting for the title again.”
Oddo was asked if Seedorf had a difficult relationship in the Milan dressing room with teammates during his time as a player at San Siro.
“No, at Milan in recent years there has never been a problem in the dressing room. We won everything and you cannot win everything if the dressing room is not in harmony.
“And Seedorf, in addition to being a great players, is also a great man. So I do not believe there have been issues of this kind.
“Will he be Milan’s Coach? I don’t know, but I believe that Galliani has the charisma and right experience to deal with the situation. He will talk some sense into the President.”
