Former Italy Under-21 boss Ciro Ferrara has wished the Azzurrini well ahead of this month’s European Championship.
Italy will begin their assault on the European crown on Wednesday when they play England. They will then face hosts Israel on June 8 and Norway on June 11.
“After a number of years, Italy U-21 are in a position to fight for an important trophy like the European Championship and they’ll do so with a strong side,” he told ANSA.
Italy started the qualification process with the former Juventus Coach on the bench, but he quit last summer to take charge of Sampdoria.
“I’ve wished the side and Devis Mangia, who succeeded me, all the best for the competition,” added the now out of work tactician.
“The side has matured, it has improved since I was in charge. They’ve also grown after playing in so many high level international ties.”
