Inter's new signing Yuto Nagatomo has revealed how he idolises his teammate Douglas Maicon, but doesn't want to replace him.
The 24-year-old joined Inter from Cesena in the January transfer window to bolster their options at the full-back position.
He was a member of the Japan side that won the Asia Cup under Alberto Zaccheroni earlier this year.
"Maicon remains my idol, but I don't want to be his substitute," Nagatomo said.
"I am focused on getting to his level."
Reflecting on last night's 2-0 win at Sampdoria, he said: "It went well.
"Leo told me to push on because I was always the quickest."
