Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar saw “chaos” on Giorgio Chiellini’s goal and is “happy” Roma are showing an interest.
The shot-stopper was particularly furious after Chiellini scored in the 4-2 win over Italy , as the Uzbek referee had initially awarded a penalty, then changed his mind to give the advantage after blowing the whistle.
“In all honesty, it was a very strange incident,” Julio Cesar told Rai Sport. “I didn’t understand what was going on. We heard a whistle, then the referee didn’t explain anything. He just told me to go back in goal or he’d show me the red card.
“We thought the referee had given a foul in our favour, then we saw Chiellini celebrating and realised he had meant it to be a penalty for Italy. Maybe it was better that way, as a penalty would’ve seen Luiz Gustavo get a second yellow card.”
Julio Cesar is however disappointed he didn’t get to challenge Mario Balotelli’s 100 per cent record from the spot.
“I would’ve liked to take on Balotelli, as we often practiced penalties in training at Inter. I managed to save a few, so he’s scared to face me now...”
Gianluigi Buffon was criticised for his performance in the Italian media, above all for taking a step to the right on Neymar’s free kick.
“Neymar wasn’t just sneaky, he is a world class player. He plays with joy and can move well even off the ball. Goalkeepers are always blamed, but Neymar’s free kick was fantastic.
“As for Emanuele Giaccherini’s goal, Dani Alves had told Thiago Silva to move, but he didn’t hear him and stayed because he was afraid of a cross.”
Julio Cesar is set to leave QPR after their relegation from the Premier League and admits he could return to Serie A with Roma.
“I do hear news every now and then, so I am happy about that interest. After everything that happened at Inter, my career has changed a great deal.
“I thank QPR, who were the only club who wanted me. They gave me a great opportunity and I am still in the Seleçao thanks to them.”
