Rafael's move from Santos to Napoli has been completed, with the Partenopei paying the Brazilian side €5m.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stadio San Paolo in recent weeks, but last night the Peixe released a statement confirming the goalkeeper's departure.
The player himself meanwhile, thanked the team he joined as a youngster but admitted it was the right time to leave for Europe.
“I always thought I would finish my career here at Santos,” he told reporters. “But with the passage of time I realized that I wanted to play in Europe and in the Champions League.
“But that does not mean that one day I will come back and finish my career at Santos.”
