Massimo Ambrosini will aim to “bring enthusiasm” to Fiorentina, but admits “I expected Milan to at least talk to me...”
The midfielder joined the Viola as a free agent after Milan allowed his contract to expire, ending 17 years at San Siro.
“I am really excited, as this is a great opportunity for me and I want to thank Fiorentina for allowing me to put myself out there again,” he said in his presentation Press conference.
“Milan? That is the past now, as I am a Fiorentina player and only want to talk about that. I will admit that I expected some more interest from the Milan directors, or for them to at least talk to me...
“After the season ended I spoke to the directors once and there was no opportunity to clarify the situation. I didn’t even need to contact them.”
Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani famously told the media that Ambrosini would not be offered a new contract before informing the player or his agent.
Aged 36, Ambrosini joins possibly the best midfield in Serie A with Borja Valero, Joaquin Sanchez, Alberto Aquilani and David Pizarro.
“My objectives are to help the team improve further, as this is a really intriguing project at Fiorentina. I bring enthusiasm here, because I still want to play and learn from my teammates.
“Vincenzo Montella is highly respected as a Coach because he looks after the details, which in my view are what make the difference.”
