Josip Ilicic says he had no doubts in accepting to join Fiorentina from Palermo. “They’re the best in Italy.”
The Slovenian international, who has undergone his medical on Wednesday, was a wanted man on the transfer market following the Rosanero’s relegation.
“When my agent called to inform me of the Viola’s offer, I didn’t hesitate for a minute,” he told Firenze Viola.
“Fiorentina already proved last year that they were the strongest team in Italy. They play beautiful football, it’s a beautiful city, there are champions here who are bossed by a very prepared tactician.
“Fiorentina are a side that have been built to win.”
When asked about the way in which he expects to be used by boss Vincenzo Montella, Ilicic says he has yet to be told.
“It’s too soon to be talking about tactics, I’m a versatile player so we’ll just have to wait and see,” he continued.
“I’ll speak with the Coach, but it won’t be difficult to play with so many offensive players. And I’m not thinking about the competition for places.”
