Genoa Coach Fabio Liverani admits he “owes a debt” to President Enrico Preziosi for hiring him.
Still only 37, he was their youth team tactician last season and was promoted to the main job at Marassi.
“Could I still play for this team? I think it’d be a struggle, as the midfield is the area of the squad with the most quality and quantity,” smiled the former Perugia, Palermo and Lazio man.
“In attack we will try to make the most of the quality at our disposal along with those we are trying to bring in during the transfer session.
“We sat down with the President and director of sport to create our idea of football that we want to develop at Genoa. All choices have been shared between us.
“I am in debt with the President. He gave me the opportunity to be a Coach at youth team level and then promoted me to the senior bench in the space of two years.
“I think that for Coaches, as is true of players, the performances do the talking rather than age or experience.”
