Edy Reja is not holding back any more, as Lazio face Palermo to target the top three. “Our position means we've got to give it our best shot.”
The Biancocelesti have kept their profile down so far this season, but find themselves in fourth place and with a realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
“I don't remember a campaign like this where the big clubs are so late to the party,” said the Coach, who is in front of Roma, Juventus and Palermo.
“Our position means we've got to give it our best shot, even if we know it won't be easy. Udinese are on stunning form, while Roma are ready to pounce and Juve have a fairly simple fixture list on paper.
“We have no alternative other than to give it our all and pick up as many points as possible. We can do it if we just count on ourselves at this stage.”
Lazio are expected to pick up the points against a Palermo side making its debut under new boss Serse Cosmi, having lost 7-0 last week.
“We'll be facing a different Palermo in psychological and tactical terms. They'll be very careful not to make more mistakes and try to hit us on the break.”
Reja confirmed Stefano Mauri and Andre Dias are out of action and hope to recover in time for the derby, while Tommaso Rocchi, Mobido Diakitè and Cristian Brocchi also miss out.
Nando Muslera is back in the side after spraining his ankle during the warm-up against Bari, but it remains to be seen if he'll be fit to start.
