New Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis reveals he could’ve joined Inter instead. “I paid out of my own pocket for Napoli.”
The shot-stopper completed his transfer to Roma this week, replaced at the Stadio San Paolo by Pepe Reina of Liverpool.
“It’s true that Inter wanted me, but it didn’t go the way I expected. Never mind,” the 36-year-old told Il Mattino newspaper.
“I chose Roma because they had already tried to sign me in January.”
The move was delayed for a few days amid reports of disagreements with Napoli over a golden handshake payment.
“I will always have a fantastic memory of my years in the Napoli jersey. I paid out of my own pocket for Napoli twice – when I arrived and when I left.”
