Things go from bad to worse for Sampdoria, who have lost captain Angelo Palombo to a broken rib today.
The midfielder went off during the first half of a 3-2 home defeat to Cesena and was taken to hospital for x-rays.
“Palombo has fractured the fourth rib on the left side,” read a statement on the official club website.
“The captain will return to the Montallegro Clinic where he will spend the night under observation.”
Sampdoria also confirmed that the team will go into a pre-match training camp from Tuesday.
It's not clear who will be in charge of the side at that stage, as the club has taken “24 hours” to consider Mimmo Di Carlo's future.
