Udinese patron Giampaolo Pozzo values Alexis Sanchez at more than the reported €30m estimate. "He's worth as much as Barcelona's Lionel Messi."
Pozzo made the claim to Gr Parlamento earlier today when he was questioned on the Chilean sensation.
"In my opinion, he is worth Messi," he stated. "He has the same capabilities and potential. And I don't even know how much Messi is worth…"
Sanchez has enjoyed a sparkling campaign after returning to the side as a Trequartista rather than as a wide attacker or winger.
"Inter, through Marco Branca, made an offer for him in January," Pozzo added of the rumoured €16m bid. "There was also interest from Chelsea."
Sanchez is expected to be sold in the summer, but Pozzo admits there is a chance he could stay if Udinese qualify for the Champions League.
"There is a big difference between the Champions League and the Europa League," added the Udine chief.
"In terms of economics, reaching the Champions League would allow us to make certain offers to a number of our players who currently have requests on the table.
"We could tell those players that we too have a project at this club."
The Bianconeri are currently fifth in the standings, one point behind Lazio and three shy of Napoli.
