Igor Budan has decided to put a stop to his playing career, but he will remain at Palermo after being appointed as the club’s new team manager.
The 33-year-old has rescinded his playing contract with the Serie B outfit in favour of a new role at the Stadio Barbera.
The Croatian will also sign up to the next Coverciano course in an effort to get the qualifications needed to become a sporting director.
The former striker initially joined Palermo in 2002 after spells at Rijeka, Venezia, Empoli and Bellinzona.
He returned to the Rosanero in 2008.
