Lionel Messi is at risk for Argentina’s friendly with Italy in Rome due to a muscular problem.
The World Player of the Year is on the bench for today’s match in Kuala Lumpur against the Malaysia XI.
According to Mundo Deportivo, he has been rested because of a muscular problem in his left thigh.
There are concerns Messi could miss out on the prestigious Italy-Argentina clash at the Stadio Olimpico on August 14.
However, other sources suggest he will be fit to feature on Wednesday, or at the very least to form part of the squad that will meet Pope Francis the day before the match.
