Bologna’s unimpressive pre-season form continued with a 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
Stefano Pioli’s side have struggled over the summer and were beaten in a friendly at the Hawthorns this afternoon.
Both goals were scored in the space of four minutes, as former Juventus man Nicolas Anelka set up Markus Rosenberg’s opener and then tapped in himself soon after.
There were tactical experiments, switching to a 4-2-3-1 system, but the first half was entirely uninspired.
Rolando Bianchi nodded a Panagiotis Kone cross over the bar after the break and Francesco Della Rocca tested the local goalkeeper.
Bad news for Davide Moscardelli, who limped off in the second half.
“We took the initiative, but they were much sharper and intelligent to take their chances,” said Coach Pioli.
“We lacked intensity when tracking back and that is a lesson we should learn.”
