Alessandro Diamanti insisted he is “not a saviour” after another impressive performance as an Italy substitute.
The Bologna talent came off the bench and helped transform the Azzurri in their 2-1 friendly defeat to Argentina.
“I think that when they needed to pull out their character, Italy have always done that. It could’ve been a positive result tonight, so it’s disappointing, but we move on and will learn from it.
“I am not a saviour! Being in this Nazionale is wonderful and every time I am called upon for my country and with these teammates it is a great sensation.”
Diamanti was asked about his future at Bologna amid interest from Juventus.
“I am at Bologna now, the transfer market ends on September 2. I am focusing on training hard and the future is imponderable, so nobody can tell what will happen. I’ll leave that speculation to you journalists, as I know you love that.”
