New Sassuolo signing Luca Marrone wants to resume his career as a midfielder after being used in defence at Juventus last term.
The 23-year-old has joined the Neroverdi after the latter signed 50 per cent of his contract from the Turin giants for a fee of €4.5m.
“If I have to be honest, the role I prefer is playing in front of the defence,” the former Italian Under-21 international commented after his experiences in a back-three in 2012-13.
“I want to become an important part of this team and finally be able to demonstrate my worth,” he continued.
“I thank the club for wanting me so much. My objective is to play with the regularity I did not have at Juventus.”
Marrone has gone from targeting the championship with the Old Lady to fighting for survival with the newly promoted club.
“We haven’t started the season on the right foot, but I’m certain the victories will arrive. We’ll know how to get some satisfaction.”
Sassuolo lost 2-0 at Torino in Week 1, while they were thumped 4-1 at home by Livorno at the weekend.
