The Azzurri met with Minister for Integration Cecile Kyenge, who said they represent “the Italy of tomorrow.”
Kyenge is in the same Turin hotel as the squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
She met with the players and staff in a 20-minute private encounter and made a brief comment to the media.
“The Nazionale is a model of what should be the Italy of tomorrow,” said the Minister.
She was given signed shirts from captain Gigi Buffon, Angelo Ogbonna and Stephan El Shaarawy and also took to Twitter in order to describe the meeting.
“Spent today with the Nazionale: your Azzurri jersey is a sign of belonging for the whole country. We play just one game: for a better Italy!”
