Verona striker Luca Toni is unlikely to be fit enough to face Sassuolo in Serie A this weekend.
The 36-year-old has been struggling with a right ankle problem which has limited his use in training this week.
The summer signing, who joined the club after his contract at Fiorentina expired, has been working in the pool over recent days in an effort to recover.
Toni scored a brace in Verona’s 2-1 win over Milan in Week 1.
Boss Andrea Mandorlini will now have to decide how to replace the target man. Daniele Cacia and the Inter-owned Samuele Longo are his options.
