Bayern Munich ‘keeper Manuel Neuer has what it takes to stop a Mario Balotelli penalty, says Giovanni Galli.
The Milan striker has a 100 per cent record when it comes to spot-kicks given that he has netted all 20 taken in his professional career.
“I have studied Balotelli for some time,” the former Italy, Milan and Fiorentina goalkeeper told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I have noticed one peculiarity.
“When he slows down his run up he hits the ball in one corner, when his run is more fluid then he hits the other side.
“I won’t be any more precise as I don’t want to reveal the secrets of Balotelli. If you really want to know, look at the 20 penalties yourself…”
When asked if there was one particular ‘keeper who could finally deny him from the spot, Galli highlighted Germany’s Neuer.
“He has an enormous physique,” the 55-year-old continued. “He covers the goal well and he has excellent reaction times.
“If he dives the right way then he could get to the ball.”
