Kevin Strootman ignores superstition and declares “Juventus are the Scudetto favourites, but Roma are there too.”
Although the Giallorossi have had their best ever start to a season, notching up five consecutive victories to go alone on top of the table, everyone at the club has kept a low profile when it comes to title talk.
Dutch midfielder Strootman broke ranks in an interview with Sky Sport Italia and made a declaration of intent.
“Juventus remain the favourites for the Scudetto, but Roma are there too. I was so impressed by the way we celebrated the win at Sampdoria last night, all together including the kit staff.
“Coach Rudi Garcia came in and improved everything that wasn’t working. We’ve got great players here, as Miralem Pjanic is a real talent and Daniele De Rossi knows how to do everything.”
Strootman was a big summer signing for Roma, making the move from PSV Eindhoven for €17m plus a potential €2m in add-ons.
“Do I feel pressure because of the sum invested in me? No.”
