Inter's ambassador Luis Figo has expressed the club's delight at drawing Schalke in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The holders had hoped for a return to Germany, as Schalke are in crisis following the sacking Felix Magath this week.
However, Figo was mainly pleased because Inter's side of the draw is favourable to their progress to the Final at Wembley.
If Inter overcome Schalke they will face either Chelsea or Manchester United in the semi-final.
"We are happy because in the case that we go beyond the quarter-finals we'll not find Real Madrid or Barcelona," Figo said.
"But they are all strong and have to be defeated on the pitch. Schalke knocked out Valencia, a very strong team in Spain.
"Against Bayern we showed that we still have desire and ambition, as well as quality in terms of individual players."
Real Madrid were pitted against Tottenham while Barcelona face Shakhtar on the other side of the draw.
