Highly-rated defender Daniele Gastaldello has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Sampdoria.
The 28-year-old, who was called up to represent Italy by Cesare Prandelli, is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Serie A.
His existing deal was due to expire in 2014, but has now been extended by another two years.
"Thinking about spending nine seasons in Genova, with this shirt, is something wonderful," Gastaldello said.
"I came in 2007. I've already been here four years. How many would that be in 2016? Nine? That's a lot, isn't it?
"It's an immense honour for me. I am very happy."
