Marek Hamsik admits “Arsenal were devastating early on and Napoli were very bad” after a 2-0 defeat.
“Arsenal were devastating early on and we were very bad,” the Slovak told Sky Sport Italia.
“In games like this we cannot just gift sides 15 minutes. They scored twice and gained in confidence.”
The Partenopei were forced into a last-minute reshuffle, as Gonzalo Higuain failed a fitness test due to a thigh problem and wasn’t even on the bench.
“Higuain is an important player, but there are others who filled in and we should’ve done better. We can certainly grow from this. Tonight Arsenal deserved to win and we have to work on it.
“Every player was concentrated beforehand, but we gave them the opening 15 minutes and couldn’t get back into it after that.”
