Rafa Benitez saw “the character and reaction I wanted” after the Arsenal defeat as Napoli crushed Livorno 4-0.
The Partenopei lost their unbeaten record on Tuesday night with a 2-0 Champions League result at the Emirates.
“It was a difficult match, but the team showed the character and reaction I wanted after London,” Benitez told Sky Sport Italia.
“It was important for us to win today. We were without Gonzalo Higuain, but we had Goran Pandev, while Jose Maria Callejon also scored. All the forwards are doing well.
“There is a difference in intensity in the Champions League. For example, Arsenal came out straight away and took a 2-0 lead, so in those circumstances everything becomes more difficult. Borussia Dortmund have the same quality and intensity as Arsenal, but we beat them 2-1 because we had the right intensity.
“I am satisfied with the performance today.”
Despite an injury crisis, Paolo Cannavaro was again left on the bench in favour of Federico Fernandez.
“I take it one game at a time. I have Uvini, Fernandez, Cannavaro, Britos and Albiol, so there is no hierarchy.”
