Sampdoria already have a three-man shortlist should they decide to show struggling boss Delio Rossi the door.
Doria have made a problematic start to the season given that they have collected just three draws and four defeats from their seven games so far.
Although the club have publicly backed the tactician, the Corriere Mercantile is suggesting the outfit have a number of options on their radar should Rossi be sacked.
Former Genoa boss Davide Ballardini, ex-Lazio tactician Edy Reja and Serbia CT Sinisa Mihajlovic are apparently the men who will be considered for the role.
There is also the possibility that veteran Giovanni Trapattoni could be appointed after he recently left the Republic of Ireland post.
Sampdoria are away at Livorno this weekend.
