Torino have underlined their desire to extend the contract of Danilo D’Ambrosio – a player who could leave on a Bosman in the summer.
The 25-year-old has made a sensational start to the season and is being tipped to break into Cesare Prandelli’s international set-up.
“D’Ambrosio is a player with great values and not only technical ones,” Toro director general Antonio Comi told Radio CRC.
“We are hoping to have him as part of our squad for the next few years,” continued the official when asked about his future given that his deal is set to expire in 2014.
“He is a pillar of this Toro side and he has grown as a player exponentially. You also have to praise Torino for believing in him during the difficult times of his career.”
D’Ambrosio, a former Italian Under-21 international, joined Toro in 2010 after spells at Potenza and Juve Stabia.
He has been paired with possible free transfers to Napoli or Fiorentina should he leave the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season.
