“My future won’t be decided tomorrow,” said the Coach in a Press conference amid rumours of resignation or dismissal.
“I do not need to hear guarantees from the club, as I am simply focused on my work. In any case, I am not taking a step back.
“The results show we’re having problems, but many of the defeats have been unjust. Now we need victories, as we can’t keep going with just draws. We’re getting better, but can do much more. I also hope to finally have everyone at my disposal.”
Senad Lulic has joined Abdoulay Konko and Giuseppe Biava on the treatment table, while Klose is a doubt for tomorrow.
“We tried getting Miroslav to play, but he wasn’t fit yet and we decided not to risk it. Klose didn’t train yesterday, so I will decide today whether to call him up or not.
“Physical fitness and stamina is not a problem for the team, so I think at times we fall off during the second half because fear sets in. We are insecure and it’s my job to improve that situation,” continued Petkovic.
“We’re a long way off from where I’d like us to be. At times we went close, but we need to be more effective and hungry to prove ourselves.
“Some players still need to find the determination and rage within them to help the others. Maybe that is what we’ve been missing, that everyone feels 120 per cent part of the team. I say that because 100 per cent is not enough at these moments.”
Petkovic confessed President Claudio Lotito’s visit to the squad included a ‘tough love’ approach.
“He was motivating and categorical. He had some legitimate demands and we know that we must give more. The fans deserve more, especially those who came to Cyprus. The positivity has to begin from within us.”
