Gennaro Gattuso insists under-fire Milan Coach Massimiliano Allegri “is not dead in the water” and has advice for Mario Balotelli.
The former Rossoneri midfielder spoke to the Corriere della Sera about the current calcio scene, having been fired as Coach of Serie B team Palermo.
“If Allegri’s bench is starting to creak, then the club will do everything possible to stabilise it. He is not dead in the water, so I wouldn’t assume he’s done for.
“Kaka is no longer the player he was in 2007, but he remains an example for everyone. Today Milan need tranquillity, but instead people just talk about hairstyles and earrings when things go wrong.
“As for Balotelli, he needs to be looked after more. On the other hand, he does damage on Twitter and I don’t understand that. The problem is with this generation of young people, not just him.”
If Milan are cut out of the Scudetto race, then Gattuso is confident it won’t be a three-horse race between Roma, Juventus and Napoli.
“I wouldn’t underestimate Fiorentina and Inter, seeing as it is still a long season. Vincenzo Montella adopted a Spanish approach, the club lets him get on with his work and that also helps him to deal with setbacks.
“Without taking anything away from Andrea Stramaccioni, Inter players have a different glint in their eyes this year.
“As for Roma, it’s laughable when people say Gervinho is a surprise, as he was the best player at Lille for three years. Daniele De Rossi is playing at the same level as the 2006 World Cup and what more can we say about Francesco Totti?”
