Luca Toni says it didn’t take him long to accept Verona’s offer to join them in the summer following their promotion to Serie A.
The 36-year-old moved to Hellas on a free transfer after his contract with Fiorentina expired. He has five goals in nine Serie A games so far for one of the top-flight’s revelation sides.
“I still had a great desire to play football,” stated the 2006 World Cup winner to Sport Di Piu. “My motivation is everything for me.
“I was looking for a side like Verona, with a board of directors who have always believed in me from our first meeting.
“I spoke with sporting director Sean Sogliano and with President Maurizio Setti – their determined belief in me convinced me this was the right club.”
