“We are very happy to be playing this derby again after so many years,” said Mandorlini in his Press conference.
While Hellas have in recent years been the less successful club, they are back in Serie A and sitting pretty in sixth place, whereas Chievo are propping up the table and brought in new Coach Eugenio Corini.
“I don’t believe we are the favourites, though we are more relaxed because our position in the standings does not worry us right now.
“If the worst comes to worst, we will still be sixth in Serie A, and that is reassuring. We will go out there looking to win.
“It is going to be a fundamental match for Chievo, as they are drowning and are desperate to get a result. Corini did well as a player for both Chievo and Hellas Verona, while as a Coach he took them to safety last season.
“In my view, he didn’t deserve to be let go last summer and, even if I was disappointed with Giuseppe Sannino’s dismissal, I am happy Eugenio is back on the bench.
“I realise Chievo could make some tactical transformations, but I prefer to focus on what my team is doing.”
