Christian Maggio adapted to a new role for Italy against Slovenia and “after the disappointment in South Africa it's time to start a new era.”
The Napoli winger played as a right-back in the 4-3-1-2 system for their 1-0 victory in Ljubljana last night.
“I hadn't played in that position for a while, but I think things went pretty well.
“We played a good game and deserved to bring home all three points,” he said.
“After the disappointment in South Africa with the World Cup it's time to move on and start a new era.”
Maggio is currently starring for Napoli, who are in third place and still in the Scudetto race.
“The team is living a wonderful dream and we have no intention of waking up now. If we beat Lazio next weekend, then the Champions League would be even closer.”
