Christian Abbiati is pleased Milan “proved we’re alive and kicking” with a 3-0 demolition of Celtic.
“This was important for a series of reasons and in a very difficult arena we proved we’re alive and kicking,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.
“We attacked from the start and I compliment everyone, as it was not simple. There are still many games ahead of us, starting from Sunday, but this victory will certainly boost confidence for us and the fans, who always stayed close to us. We also want to dedicate this win to President Silvio Berlusconi.”
This was the Rossoneri’s first win in over a month and just days after Abbiati and Kaka spoke to angry ultras to calm a protest at San Siro.
“Of course I believe in this team. We wear a truly important jersey and must give our all in every game. With the protests on Saturday and recent results it was tough, but we came here and won a crucial match.
“Was it easier to play outside San Siro? I wouldn’t say that, as you can really hear the Celtic fans singing! We closed up within ourselves and remained concentrated.”
