Walter Mazzarri has fond memories of Sampdoria and confirmed Javier Zanetti could get his first Inter start of the season.

“We mustn’t get distracted, as looking back we’ve done more or less well in terms of performances, but due to the odd lack of concentration or moment of naïveté we dropped points,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“It would be a huge mistake not to learn from these things. We’ve got to remove the negative aspects from our draw with Bologna so that we don’t throw more points away.
“Sampdoria have a lot of quality with players like Manolo Gabbiadini, Angelo Palombo, Eder, Pedro Obiang and on Sunday they deserved to beat Lazio.”
This is a reunion for Mazzarri, who spent two years at Sampdoria, while the Blucerchiati’s new Coach is ex-Inter player and assistant manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.
“It’s a shame Riccardo Garrone is no longer with us, as he was a true gentleman. Now his son is President and we have a great rapport, just as with the medical staff and everyone at the club. They were wonderful years in forming my career.
“Now I want to win with Inter, but I am not the type to proclaim ‘I’ll beat Sampdoria.’ That is not my style.”
Zanetti made his comeback after seven months out with a torn Achilles tendon and could get his first start tomorrow.
“It’s true Zanetti could start, but he might not have 90 minutes in his legs. If he were to start, I’d have to take that into account with regards to substitutions. I do have a doubt between Andrea Ranocchia and Rolando, but it’s good to keep everyone on their toes.
“Nobody has the first team shirt stuck to their shoulders. I look at the team to get the best out of individuals and I live only for the results of the side.
“As for the strikers, I just care that we score goals, not who gets them. We’re the most prolific side in Serie A. Few Coaches work so hard on possession, as for me it starts from Samir Handanovic.
“The next five games will tell us a great deal. Then the transfer window will open, but I prefer to ignore that for now, as we will play these games with the current squad.”
